Aelia and the Ark of the Sun - Interactive adventure for children at the Festival of Rome

dates:  08.30 (szombat) 15:00 és  17:00

assembly point: JPM Csontváry Museum before

"Aelia and the Ark of the Sun" is an interactive adventure story that takes children through three challenges at the World Heritage sites of Pécs. According to the story, Tenebrus, the spirit of darkness, has kidnapped the Sun and locked it in an iron box. Aelia, the brave little potter's daughter, can only free him with the help of the children - so that Solina, the Sun Goddess, can once again light up the city of Sopianae! The mission is interactive, taking you from location to location, with live actors, playful rehearsals and creative challenges. At the World Heritage sites, moderators will help the little adventurers to solve the puzzles and move the story forward.

The Sopianae Roman Walk app features locations and some of the tasks, and even 3D reconstructions to help you visualise - making the experience even richer. Teams of 5-10 people can embark on the mission, where they must cross the time barrier to go through the rehearsals at the three World Heritage sites together:

  • The Secret of Lost Wine - Tomb of the jar: a quiz and ancient legends to find the gift of the god Bacchus.
  • The Warlord's Oltar - Gravestone: decipher messages from the past to bring to life the name of a forgotten hero.
  • The Colourful Tomb - Mausoleum: colours, lights and symbols lead you to the last key piece.

At the end of the adventure, the three keys will unlock the Ark of the Sun and the light will return to Sopianae. This programme is not just a fairy tale - it's a real, hands-on experience where children can learn about ancient history through play, while actively participating in a special mission.
