Wine-drinking Romans - Archaeological and gastronomic adventures in the world of Roman wine culture
What do we know about Roman winemakers and winery architecture? How and from what was wine made, transported and stored in the Roman Empire? What was the role of wine at the banquets of the educated Roman elite and how did wine culture inspire the table-talk, the architecture and the decoration of the banqueting rooms of luxurious villas? These are some of the fascinating questions we will explore in a lecture by archaeologist Zsolt Mráv.
What was the wine that was drunk in ancient times like? The answer is in your glass.
István Ipacs Szabó, winemaker, has long been interested in the history of wine, and in this spirit the Timeless, whose fourth edition is now making its debut in Pécs. On his estate in the Villány wine-growing region, he explores the depths of the Villány Franc and makes wine between heaven and earth with an eternal spirit of experimentation.
