What is RomansWineDanube?
A marketing framework for sustainable cultural tourism. The Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Routes /#RomansWineDanube/ is an Interreg Danube Region Programme project launched in January 2024 under the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme, in the framework of the European Cultural Routes of the Roman Emperors and the Danube Wine Routes.
It aims to provide innovative solutions to common problems through international consortia cooperation. The current project was launched in January 2024. It will run for 30 months and will end on 30 June 2026.

Budget
The budget for the project with a grant intensity of 80 % is as follows:
Interreg funding: 1.754.133,60
Co-financing: 438.533,40
Total project cost: 2.192.667,00
Concept, objectives
One of the objectives of the project is to strengthen local tourism stakeholders and involve communities in tourism development.
Another important pillar of the project is to support the socio-economic development of the Danube region through heritage, culture and tourism.
Target beneficiary groups
Beneficiaries include local communities, including local service providers, small and medium-sized enterprises, NGOs and cultural institutions.
The role of Pécs in the project
The two biggest events of the project to be implemented in Pécs will be the Festival of the Roman Emperors in 2025 and the Training Academy in 2026, which will be implemented in cooperation with Osijek and will be marked by the participation of several international partners.
These two events and the many other activities will help Pécs to become an internationally competitive tourist destination.
