Naiades Danubianae - Ancient Roman dance group

The Naiades Danubianae - meaning "Danube Naiads" - is a dance group that evokes the lesser-known yet fascinating world of ancient Roman culture. Their name refers to the Naiads of Greco-Roman mythology: these nymphs, associated with fresh water (springs, rivers, lakes), embody the forces of nature, youth, fertility and beauty.

The aim of the group is to present the diversity of ancient dances and to bring the audience closer to the mythology, traditions and rituals of ancient Rome. Their performances are not only a dance experience, but also a cultural education, giving insight into the daily life and festivities of the ancient world. The choreographies are based on contemporary depictions and written sources, authentically reflecting the stylistic characteristics of the period. The repertoire includes entertainment and ritual dances, ceremonial scenes and various formations - circle dances, chain dances and group performances. The cultural diversity of the Roman culture is also reflected in the performances, which include the feminine, soft movements of oriental dances, the sophistication of Greek arts and the expressive movement of Roman pantomime.
